On this bitterly cold wintry day in London, I was reluctant to step out of the office, but I had to meet the Director the Athenaeum Apartments.  But, oh was it worth it!

The luxury apartments are on one side of the hotel and is within a quiet road, away from the main street.  Discreet elegance is the best way to describe the décor and ambience.  Entering the main entrance was like returning back 100 years ago to the days when ladies and gentlemen would visit friends for tea.

The Athenaeum apartments are cleverly split between a classic English style that is a throwback to its Edwardian past and a modern style with a twist.  The Classic style apartments are suffused with a warmth, from the velvety curtains furniture covered in damask or brocade finish.  Apartments are all carpeted in neutral colours and all have plenty of daylight.

The modern style apartments are a quirky mix of the 'Now' and Art Deco.  In one of the bedroom, I could see a glass Art Deco style dressing table, then just next to it is an ornament that seems to come from a Saatchi Gallery!  But it really works, because my eyes were teased by these quirky arrangements in the room.

But irrespective of the décor, all of the apartments oozes luxury, with flat screen TVs in the bedroom and the living room, maid service and room service. 

Being nestled in the heart of Mayfair, a stone's throw from Park Lane ensures the classic status of the Athenaeum apartments.
