Short Breaks to Prague

At the heart of this Golden City is Charles Bridge.  The bridge is like an unbelievable magnet for tourists throughout the day and night. Walking through is a real inspiration and guaranteed to inspire all of your senses.  Amongst the statues in memory to the Saints, heroes and sinners, there are souvenir stalls. If you shut your eyes you can hear the Vltava river streaming under the bridge, then rising above there are notes of a single violin, or a saxophone playing a jazz song.

The architecture dates back to medieval times and is so breathtaking.  Buildings are awash with elegant statues, all painted in warm colours of honey, yellow, golds and sky blues.  All building still have the touch of the ornate baroque style which flourished in Europe during the 17th century.  But wherever you venture in Prague, the sight and focus is still Prague Castle and Charles Bridge.  Search now for Prague Apartments>>

Stylish Dining

Throughout our various visits to this city, we have never been disappointed by the many restaurants and bars.  In fact, the dining is a true symbol of the Czech's spirit of entrepreneurism and vitality.  Every corner you turn, you will experience warm hospitality from the small home run restaurants which literally based in someone's courtyard, to the luxury Kampa Group restaurant emporium.  They all exude warm hospitality and the desire to make sure that you have a brilliant experience.  There are so many choices, but here are some of our favourite places:

Hergetova Cihelna - This restaurant is part of the larger Kampa Group chain, but is not like a chain in the boring sense.  The location is near Charles Bridge, so make sure you book a table on their open air terrace.  The view of Vltata river and Charles Bridge is magnificent!

The cuisine is an excellent fusion of international specialities from Czech 'Suckling piglet' to Peking Duck wings, or the perennial favourites from Italian cuisine.  The restaurant decor is modern, refreshing and designed with a stunning bar offering all fine wines and Champagne.  Price is very reasonable, you can easily enjoy a 3-course meal for 1000 CZ per person (approx £25 GBP).

Café Culture

Imagine a city where there are no Starbucks in sight!  The Café culture in Prague, just like the rest of Europe, has long pre-dated Starbucks and is still alive and kicking.  You can spend whole afternoons sipping coffee, cocktails, eating ice-cream or enjoying a light snack in any of the cafés.  We really love them because the cafés are somewhere between a coffee place, an ice-cream parlour, cocktail bar and a brasserie!  The coffee menus are pretty fantastic, make sure you try 'Algerian coffee' which is a mellow medley of coffee, egg nog and whipped cream.  Here is one of the Quality Prague Team's favourite haunt:

Cremeria Milano - This is a top of the range café situated in Paryžská, which is designed in the style of a Parisian boulevard and is the home of many luxury designer shops like Christian Dior.  The café is a very elegant building with crystal chandeliers, inside and outside seating and a mind boggling selection of 24 ice-cream flavours.  Not cheap, but is worth it for the setting alone.  Try an alcoholic cocktail, an espresso and an ice-cream dessert!

Hightlights of Prague

There is so much to do and see in this brilliant city but here are some of our favourites for a touch of luxury:

  • Opera at the Estates Theatre is fantastic.  This theatre is actually the place where Mozart premiered one of his most famous operas - Don Giovanni.  Every July, in memory of this occasion, there is a Mozart festival.  The opera is really beautiful and cosy.  Prices approximately £25-30 per person for an opera ticket.
  • Prague Castle and the Golden Lane is definitely worth a visit.  The walk up to the castle is not too steep, but the view from the castle is breathtaking.  You can see all the rooftops of the City and all the spires of the various churches and buildings.
  • Louis Roederer Champagne Afternoon Tea at the Four Seasons is fantastic.  A delicious European tradition where you can nibble fresh finger sandwiches, home-baked cakes and of course sip tea!
